Laura's Story
Through high school, Laura's passion was the performing arts. Choir, band, orchestra and drama. That's what she reveled in. She even wrote her elementary school song at the age of eleven!
But, believing "you can't make a living" with music, she studied chemical engineering, then economics, in college. She participated in no extra-curricular performing arts whatsoever. In hindsight, Laura believes that turning from her true nature contributed to a five-year struggle with depression and bulimia.
In the mid-80's, fresh out of college, Laura went to work in Corporate America. She gained invaluable business and communication skills, but still felt like a fish out of water. Shortly thereafter, she began doing musical theater in the Chicago area. Lo and behold, the bulimia and depression lifted. Expressing herself and being with her creative "tribe" did for her what medication and psychotherapy had not been able to do.
In the mid-90's, Laura began reading books on metaphysics which accelerated her spiritual development.
She knew work could be a joyful, spiritual path of self-expression and service. She began writing songs again, songs designed to uplift and encourage others. She also did her inner great work: overcoming addictions and her own self-doubts.
If Laura can overcome enough of her fears and other barriers to shine a higher
expression of herself in the world, so can you! We need you to do what you came to do. You are magnificent. You make a difference.
"Once upon your lifetime...what'll it be? Tell me your story."
