I wrote this for a stage production of Sleeping Beauty. We are sleeping beauties, being awakened to our true nature by the force of Love. You might listen to my talk, Towers, for more about the symbolism of the tower in this universal fairytale.

Only Love
Words and Music by Laura Derocher

Oh Elise, have you felt alone in darkness?
Or have you known I've been with you all the time?
What have you dreamed, sleeping in your tower above?
May the power of love remind you your mine.

Oh my sweet, just a little while longer.
It's hard to wait; I want our happy end to start.
But, rest assured, while the magic takes time to unfold,
I already hold you in my heart.

CHORUS:
Only love can open your eyes.
Only love can bring you to me,
Cause you to wake, inspire you to make
the life of your dreams.
What do I wish for you?
Only love.

My sleeping beauty, your night time's almost over.
Soon you will sense your day has come to rise.
Don't be afraid of the new adventure greeting you.
A kiss and you will realize...

CHORUS (Repeat.)

CHORUS (Variation):
Only love can open your eyes.
Only love can lift you through anything,
Cause you to wake, inspire you to make
the life of your dreams.
What do I wish for you?
What will I give to you
ev'ry hour, through the year,
'til the last day after always?
Only love. Only love. Only love.
Only love.
