I fell in love with someone who wasn't available. We spent some time together and then he was gone. It hurt to lose him, but he'd opened me to feelings and aspects of myself I hadn't known. I wrote this song in the style of an old, 1940's standard. The sad, codependent last line is in keeping with this old song style; I don't really believe it. ;-)

without you gliding along.

I'm not doing my best, back in my nest,
pressed into everydays.
My face to the ground, I can't bear to turn around
to no sound or sight of you.
I'm confused: Is it better never knowing,
or glowing while you knew?
I dared to know though I knew I'd lose
when you passed through.
